FDA warns companies about ADHD ads
The Food and Drug Administration has warned five drug manufacturing companies that their ads for medications to treat attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder are misleading. The FDA says that YouTube videos and other promotional materials omit safety information and overstate the benefits of the drugs. The companies who were warned include: Johnson & Johnson for Concerta, Shire Ltd. for Adderall XR, Eli Lilly & Co. for Strattera, Novartis for Focalin XR, and Mallinckrodt Inc. for Methylin. The companies said they would work with the FDA to address these concerns.
