Recent medical literature has given rise to a host of new diagnoses, many of which are meeting with skepticism from the general public. In this article, a reporter reviews eight medical conditions that are often met with this skeptical response. The list includes such new conditions as post-traumatic embitterment disorder, sibling rivalry syndrome, mathematics disorder, and caffeine-related disorders. Also on the list are older diagnoses that still spark controversy, such as oppositional defiance disorder, multiple personality disorder, social anxiety disorder, and chronic fatigue syndrome.
