Kids' mental illness diagnoses can change as they age

A reporter talks to the parents of Jake Powers, a four-year-old boy who has been diagnosed with a number of mental illnesses in his short life. First told their son had autism, the Powers were later told he had bipolar disorder, intermediate explosive disorder, and attention-deficit hyperactivity disorder. But experts say the Powers' experience is not unusual, since a child's diagnoses can change as he or she moves through childhood into adolescence. The reporter discusses this process with the Powers and with other families dealing with multiple diagnoses for their children and teens.
