FDA delays extended-release Intuniv

The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has delayed release of the extended-release ADHD medication Intuniv. According to drugmaker Shire, lengthy labeling discussions caused the FDA to miss their original target date of July. Shire said the FDA had not identified any safety concerns, and the company believes the drug will be released by the end of 2009. If given final approval, Intuniv will become the first selective alpha-2A receptor agonist released for the treatment of ADHD.  Read full story >
