ADHD drug abuse on the rise among teens

Researchers say that the number of teens abusing ADHD drugs is on the rise. A study of calls to poison control centers has risen 76 percent in eight years, and experts say that number is probably on the low end, since many people don't call a poison control center. Experts say the problem is that kids and teens don't understand why taking a medication prescribed for someone else could be harmful, and they don't understand that the repercussions of their actions could be life threatening. The study's researchers found that the rise in overdoses mirrored the rise in the overall number of ADHD prescriptions.   Read full story >
