A child who has a reputation for being badly behaved may get treated that way by teachers, even if their actions are fine, a new British study has found. Researchers found that once teachers labeled a child as inattentive or hyperactive--even if the child was very young--it was difficult to be seen as well-behaved in later school years. But the study's authors found that kids were most likely to be labeled "bad" if their teachers viewed their behavioral problems as a larger indicator of bad parenting or a troubled home life.
