Video gamers have problems paying attention

Kids and young adults who play a lot of video games have more trouble staying focused and attentive than those who play video games only a few hours a week, a new study has found. Researchers say one reason may be that the highly dramatic environment of the game could lead people to become easily bored with normal tasks, such as paying attention in school, or studying in a quiet place. The study contradicts some other research that found video gaming could improve visual processing in people with ADHD, but the researchers say they plan to conduct more tests to determine if there is an optimal level of gaming that will help--and not harm--ADHD sufferers.  Read full story >
