Too Much Small Talk Linked to Unhappiness

The next time you're bemoaning the weather with a co-worker, try steering the conversation toward something more meaningful instead. Scientists have found that there's a strong correlation between meaningful conversation and happiness. In fact, in a study of 20,000 people, those who reported being happiest had twice as many substantive conversations, and underwent one third less small talk than their unhappier peers.
