People using these steroid sprays like Nasonex and Flonase risk destroying their vision. Not only are they implicated in the formation of cataracts, but also in an even more potentially serious condition: central serous retinopathy. This is a blister that forms beneath the retina, separating it from the underlying cells that provide its nutrition and essentially killing a region of it. This has been a known side effect of corticosteroids for many years, but these products inexcusably still lack warnings about it.
You'll see old literature describing CSR as strictly ideopathic (cause unknown) and often ascribing it to "type-A" people. That's an outdated and lazy analysis, because it ignores the fact that this condition can produce subtle visual degradation that is only noticed by people who already have good vision and are perceptive enough to detect any change to it. Furthermore, the victim must be persistent enough to pursue an accurate diagnosis; this may not be easy, given widespread ignorance of the problem and the need to see specialists.
Don't destroy your vision by snorting dangerous substances.
Rare sounds rare unless you are that person. I had severe and sudden nose bleed that required the insertion of a device that is inflated inside your nose for 5 days. Needless to say, the pain caused by this device (as no other approach stopped the heavy bleeding) is tremendous. I would highly discourage anyone from taking these nasal steriod sprays.
hi ... i am riz ... i have nose allergy issues from many years ... when i get allergy i have all symptoms like sneezing, runny nose , watery eyes & headache etc ... my physician recommended me both nasal spray & anti allergy pill as a 15 days course … nasal spray in the morning & anti allergy pill before going bed … after 15 days he suggested me to use nasal spray in regular basic … I did that & got some better results … but after sometime I felt that nasal spray was reducing efficiency gradually … might be it because I forgot to take it regularly … now whenever I gets allergy symptoms I prefer to use anti allergy pill rather than nasal spray … but I must confess that anti allergy pill is having some side effects which nasal spray don’t like whenever I take pill I feel dizzy & dry throat … now after reading this article I came to know that nasal spray must be used in regular basis … I will start using nasal spray again on regular basis … thanks a lot for providing such use full information.
