I suffer from chronic & severe allergies. The weird thing is that they only effect me when I am sitting. If I am moving around I'm otherwise fine. When I sit for as few as 15 mins, I'll start to experience symptoms. The longer I sit, the the greater the symptoms. Symptoms include:stuffy nose...

    Hello Cynthia,

I have to tell you, I don't know that I have ever heard anything like what you are experiencing. It seems so strange that you would be affected when you sit down. The only thing I can remotely thing of, is that when you sit, you are close to the allergins that are triggering the reaction. Like if you sit on a particular spot on the couch and the couch has some dust mites on it. Then within the 15 minutes or so, your body would begin to react to the dust mites. Something like that. It might benefit you to have your house ducts cleaned to help minimize the dust if that seems to be an issue for you?

Here is some information to help you check your symptoms and look at the various treatments available. It might benefit you to begin immunotherapy, or allergy shots. These are things you might want to discuss with your doctor. While online sites are great for information that will help you ask all the right questions, they can not take the place of your doctor's sound medical advice and care.

Take care and stay in touch! Let us know how you are doing!

This post is from last year and I just read it but I have similar symptoms.  I have allergy problems usually spring through fall.  They are the worst when I sit, which causes big problems with work, church, meetings...

It feels like the symptoms mount up or maybe have problems draining when I sit.  I wonder if it is due to being overweight in my middle that causes the allergy symptoms to be worse when sitting.  Of course when laying down I get the drainage and have to take strong medicine at night.

Any guesses from anyone would be more than what I know now.  Thanks.

An allergy is the immune system's over-reaction to a normally harmless substance called an allergen.
