About Me

Cole is an active 12 year old who was diagnosed with Exercise- Induced Anaphylaxis about 2 months ago - after having 4 episodes over a 5 month period.  We have seen an allergist who diagnosed him and placed him on H1 and H2 blockers and instructed him to avoid playing in hot, humid conditions and avoid eating for 3-4 hours before strenuous activity.  So far, following these instructions has avoided attacks but basketball tryouts are soon and his physicians are reluctant (understandably!)  to sign a health release for him to try out.  Although we want him to be safe, he will be devastated if he cannot play and we do not want to discourage him from physical activity.  His allergist has recommended he be assessed by a specialist at a research hospital near us.
