Egg Allergy, Flu Shot, and Thimerosal

This is my first shared post. I've been doing some research regarding egg allergy and the flu shot and in the process, I came across some articles that were disturbing to me. Specifically, the flu shot is one of the few vaccines that still has thimerosal, the preservative that has been cited as one of the root causes of the rise in regressive autism and also of allergic diseases. Yet, it is recommended for pregnant women and children, the ones most susceptible to heavy metal toxicity!

Hello RUS,

I am unfamiliar with Thimerosal, but there is a link here to an article citing the findings of medical professionals from the Journal of Medical Genetics who say there is no link between this chemical and autism. Just thought you might want to read it to compare with what you have seen elsewhere.

Hi Folks,

A friend sent me some additional information I wanted to pass along to you. It comes from the FDA http://www.fda.gov/cber/vaccine/thimerosal.htm

Thimerosal is a mercury-containing organic compound that had been widely used as a preservative in drug products, including many vaccines. According to the FDA, "Thimerosal has been removed from or reduced to trace amounts in all vaccines routinely recommended for children 6 years of age and younger, with the exception of inactivated influenza vaccine." Recent scientific studies from around the world have found no link between Thimerosal in childhood vaccines and the rise of autism, but the issue is still hotly debated.

So seems like someone is doing something to reduce the amount of Thimerosal that people, particularly kids, are exposed to and still debating the reasons why.

Hi Rus,

I understand your concern about thimerosal and vaccinations. I think it is important to point out some issues:

1- The link on YouTube actually ends with a doctor from the Department of Health and Human Services stating that current evidence does not support a connection between autism and thimerosal

2- The last segment on YouTube reports on proposition 911 being voted down in the senate because of studies that have failed to show a link between thimerosal and autism.

3- Autism has been on the rise despite the marked decrease in thimerosal in currently available childhood vaccines

4- The amount of thimerosal in the current flu vaccine is markedly lower than quantities of vaccines that have been removed.

5- There is no connection reported between the development of allergic problems and thimerosal.

The bottom line:

The flu vaccine is considered very important for a large segment of our society.

I understand that as parents our first job is to protect our children. We also owe it to them (our children) to make decisions based on facts from creditable resources.

For those parents that remain concerned about thimerosal there is a thimerosal-free flu vaccine available. It remains available because health experts realize that some people may not get their children vaccinated otherwise.

I'm glad you made this posting. I have a few discussions each fall with parents that share your concerns.

Thimerisal is mercury. Plain and simple. Very toxic, and deadly. You would be better off breaking a themometer, and drinking it than surviving a thimerisal injection.

My brother received a flu vacine last Dec.08. 2-3 wk after he was diagnosed w/ Guilan Barre Snydrome from the vacine. He was in Icu 5wk. kidney, lungs shut down, paralysed from toes to neck. A miracle, he made it after 104 days in hosp. His speech was affected, is in PT,speech therapy etc, walks w/ a walker, however still uses wheelchair. Never seen anyone suffer as much or long !!! All this from the FLU VACINE.

Just wanted to share this as maybe a lot can be learned !
