So this post out but I can't seem to find out what the recommendation was from the doctor.  My son is highly allergic to shellfish, can he go in the ocean?

He was in the ocean all last year but just find out a few months ago he is allergic. (He is 2yrs old).  Was really interetsd in finding out what the doctor said.

I too have a an allergy to shellfish, and had a reaction after eating a burger and fries at Joe's Crabshack (must have come into contact with shellfish...)   My first guess is that it was the chinese food...BUT it doesn't make sense that your hands turned so red (Unless you ate some chinese that involved using your hands).  It might be worth having some allergy skin testing done to be sure about the other seafoods.  Could be alife or death issue

Chinese food.. I have found out use oyster sauce in alot of their recipes. I came close to eating Chicken Fried Rice the other day til I saw it had a oyster sauce and it caution that people with shellfish allergies shouldn't eat it...  It might of been the Chinese food, but no expert at this, I'm not a doctor and a newbie at all of this, was just diagnosed the other day

    HI,

I HAVE RECENTLY HAD A REACTION AFTER EATING CHINESE FOOD.  I DON'T THINK CHINESE FOOD AND THE BEACH ARE CONNECTED.

MY SYMPTOMS WERE DIFFICULTY BREATHING, ITCHY EARS AND THROAT.

I THINK YOU MIGHT LOOK INTO MSG ALLERGY (ITS USUALLY IN CHINESE FOOD) UNLESS SPECIFIED.  IT IS ALSO IN OTHER FOODS SOUPS ETC.  MUST READ ALL LABELS.  AS FAR AS SHELLFISH YOU MAY BE ALLERGIC.  I WOULD EITHER HAVE ALLERGY TEST OR JUST NOT EAT SHELLFISH..........ALLERGY TESTING SOUNDS GOOD TO ME.....

An allergy is the immune system's over-reaction to a normally harmless substance called an allergen.
