I think it will eventually become evident that their is a much higher correlation between stress in children and the development of allergies. I know this will not be the only reason for allergies but my theory or guess I should say is that along with highly processed food in our diets children are living under tremendous stress. The stress that was not present 100 years ago.....I think that the stress parents cause their children is often overlooked as a great influence on the health and wellness of children. Stability is extremely rare these days and children often are very sensitive to the emotions of adults and are easily "persuaded" to take on the stress of the parents even when the childs needs are obviously being neglected. I would imagine that you could take a sample of allergic or even ill children and begin to develop a highly correlated relationship between family chaos and allergy in children. I would say the nation is being neglectful of our children as a whole and tend to expect everyone else Ie babysitter, grandparents, school system , to do their parenting and watch out for the child's needs while they try to get their own act together ......after having children first of course.
As a mom of two boys with food allergies I definitely have opinions. Believe it or not I have stopped following up to minute allergy news. My oldest was diagnosed 11 yrs ago after an anaphylactic reaction. His allergies are numerous, including antibiotics. I used to be vigilant and determined to discover how this happened to us. Pursuing drs. doing research etc. I gave up when I was in it long enough to see the hypocrisys with their theories. I realized they were only guessing.
Personally I think it's a combination of vaccines (which they would never let out of the bag for fear of disease repercussions) and antibiotics. When you learn what allergies really are, the immune system attacking (with nothing to attack), it just makes sense to me. We are wired with immune systems needing to work. Maybe those with super charged immune systems wanting to go out there and work and not having anything to fight are the ones afflicted. It's interesting too that both my boys are food allergy kids, although not to the same degree. The one that is worse off was exposed to high doses of antibiotics at 6wks. Hospital protocol as he had a 100 fever and they needed to rule out spinal meningitis. No meningitis just 2 days of straight iv antibiotics. Makes me so sad, maybe this could have been prevented. So maybe the gene for the super immune system is there in both boys or is it an allergy gene.
A doc once told me that in Africa where infant mortality is high as there are no vaccines, there has never been one report of any food allergy. Interesting.......
