Has anyone heard of this?

By Christy3939 Friday, October 29, 2010

I had no allergies until 7 1/2 years ago.  I got them suddenly and severe (adult onset).  I feel like a have a horrible cold that has not gone away for the last 7 + years.  I have asthma attacks that increase from 1 a day to every few hours.  I have no sense of smell and I can't breathe through my sinuses unless I am on prednisone.  I have had several steriod injections with oral prednisone in the last several years.  These are the ONLY times I can breathe and feel normal.  I can smell, taste and don't have asthma during the few weeks after the treatments.  Unfortunately, they put weight on me everytime, and I go right back to not being able to breathe through my sinuses, smell or taste.  I have had unsuccessful sinus surgery.  I have tried almost every nasal steriod spray.  I have nasal polyps that have been removed and they return.  I sneeze all day long and can't stand this illness.  I would not wish this feeling on my worst enemy.  Does anyone know anyone who has gone through this whether they have gotten better or not???

Do you have an allergist? I don't think steroid shots are the answer. There are a lot of meds out there that really help with allergies and asthma, and a good allergist should be able to give you something that will relieve your symptoms without shots.

I use Asmanex for asthma prevention, Nasonex for allergy prevention, Atrovent for asthma attacks, and Ipratropium for allergy attacks.

Your allergist might give you something different, but should be able to give you a lot of relief!

Good luck!!
