I am not sure how often this happens to you but as for me, its only when I eat lobsters, crabs, prawns etc.I stopped eating them many years back to avoid this itch in my ears and throat.Once I ate coconut crab and I woke up the next moring with my faces swollen.

Whenever I eat out and eat traces of these stuff which I do not know, I get the itch but not that bad though.

I hope the above will help.Cheers and take care.

the previous poster definitely has a shellfish allergy. You may also have a food allergy - they are very common. You need to consult an allergist to get diagnosed if you haven;t figured out what triggers it by yourself - and not just any old allergist either stay away from naturopaths  look for someone who is up on the latest research and treatments http://www.aaaai.org/ Allergy shots WORK.

Hi, I have been suffering from the same porblem as you.  Being reecently married it is posing a prob between me n my husband too.  Quite embaressing i must say.  Similarly i have also seen an ENT speacialist who was unable to diagnose me of anything, instead asked me to do an allergy test.. I am allergic to shellfish thus i completely avoid them. but i get this itch everyday despite the food i eat.  I have tried eating different food on different days to see which is the food that causes the itch.  But i have the itch almost every day.  I am suffering.... any advice would be appreciated...

I have the same symptom- itchy ear and throat.  I have identified several foods to which I am allergic, and they cause the problem.  Sweet things cause the problem very quickly - within a minute.  I recently began a prescribed course of Nystatin powder that I mix into cold water.  I do this twice per day, and am to put some in my mouth, turn my head to one side and slowly swallow a gulp of the mix.  It is to slide down the back of my throat on one side.  I repeat this on the other side, and alternate until the 1/2 cup of fluid (mixed with 1/8 tsp. Nystatin powder) is gone.  This helps tremendously.  I am also cutting way back on sugar and chocolate.  I hope this helps!

If you find that cure I'll be the first in line to get it.

I have since I can remember. I also do a weird noise because it's feels like scratching.

Recently I learn that this problems over time may cause the inside of my nose to grow making it narrower. I think that started already and I'll have appointment with an ENT to seek relief.

I have had this symptom for a few years now and found it very embarressing at times - but eventually discovered that its all down to dairy products, anything that has dairy products in like, chocolate, cheese, bread amongst many other ready made products.  Since i've stopped eating all these products which was very hard for me because im a lover of cheese, my ear and throat do not itch - try stopping ALL dairy products and im sure you'll feel the difference like me.

The same as mentioned above has happened to me since I don't know when. I remember my mom and aunt having the same problem, maybe it's herditary? I can not seem to find a cause since I'm not allergic to any food. It comes on when I least expect it. Perhaps it's an airborne allergy. I want this to go away so bad. I guess it's a relief to see I'm not the only one suffering from this malady. The vibrating shake (don't know how else to explain it) I give my ears and the pig like noise to relieve my throat is irritating and embarassing. Anyone have a solution?

I also make the horrible noise! Itchy ears and scratchy throat happen to me every time I eat any type of fruit or vegetable. It's awful.
