My eyes are red and I often have postnasal drip from mold in the air. This often turns in to a sinus infection. My MD prescribed 100 mg of Doxycycline a day during allergy season. SInce this is normally used to treat the infection after the fact, does it make sense to use it for preemptive treatment?

I think that's a little weird, because couldn't you develop a resistance to it? I think it would make more sense to have you on an allergy med regimn instead of a antibiotic regimn. My dr prescrb. me to take over the counter antihistamines to dry out my sinus to PREVENT sinus infection from happening. Along with Zyrtec, patanol eye drops, and nasonex.
