ALLERGIC CONJUCTAVITIS

By Chloe Tuesday, June 19, 2007

hello! I've been dealing with allergic conjuctivitis for about 9 years, and this year is by far the worst. My eyes are just about swollen shut, and driving me batty!! does anyone have any helpful hints? I take prescription eye drops, zyrtec, nasonex ( new one started yesterday) over the counter antihistamines. My dr. had decided to send me to an allergy specialist because she thinks we need to find out why I keep getting like this. This doctor is new to the practice, and I can say I like that after only two visits with her, after countless to the other dr. she took the action to send me to an allergist.

A few thoughts,

have you checked the website www.aaaai.org to view the detailed pollen counts (is very detailed, even tells you which specific trees, molds, etc. are highest.  This helped me figure out which specific things were bothering me the most...so I could pick a treatment to target it.  For example, I had a problem when mold count (cladorsporium specifically) was high, so I got a good air purifier and it ended my asthma problems.  Cutting out dairy cut my allergies in half because dairy increases mucus production(just cutting out milk and cutting back on icecream, cheese had no impact.)  Also, vitamin C (quality, not generic helped me out). kellykellycox@yahoo.com

Thank you, I had never heard of that website! I will be sure to check it out.  I'm sure it will help me, especially once I go see the allergist (this friday) it will be really nice to know what exactly I'm allergic to.

on that website www.aaaai.org (asthma and allergy site) if you put pollen count in the search on that page...it will lead you to it.  You can also have them send you the pollen counts a few times a week via email.  That is what I did, but I only opened the emails on days I was having problems.  After the general counts on the page, it gets into specific trees, weeds, grass, and mold.  Good luck (it may take several days of tracking to narrow it down to one or two things that bother you.  I know that sometimes it may say the tree pollen is high, and yet I have no problem...just the mold mostly for me)

sorry to hear that, perhaps there was one somewhere nearby?  I live between 2 pollen count stations, so I get readings from both.  Sorry that I couldn't help.

That's okay, not your fault, I actually get emails right now from Pollen.com, and  a local hospital does one as well.  Thanks for your help though and your suggestions.  Having my allergy test friday so that should help as well.
