Sulfa drug allergy timeframe
WES
Friday, November 09, 2007 at 04:02 PMHi there, I have just been on sulfa drugs too for a UTI & after two days had to stop taking them due to swelling of my face (mainly my lips) actually looked like botox gone wrong! My doctor then put me on antihistamine's & thankfully my lips went down pretty much straight away. I am just left with lots of ulcers in my mouth which are very painful! All I know is in the future I will be asking if there is any sulfa in any drugs I am prescribed!
I Hope your problems are sorted soon, nothing worse than NOT feeling 100%!!!!

Friday, August 01, 2008 at 10:03 AMI too have reactions to Sulfa drugs. Last time I was prescribed one I had a reaction, after discontinuing the medication I continued to have site specific reactions to anti-bacterial products. Specifically I washed my hands at a resteraunt and they began to swell and develop hives. Since I had limited access to what I felt was relable health care (I was a graduate student and insurance only covered the university health services clinc), I took benadryl and have avoided Sulfa drugs ever since.
