Allergy first steps

By Steve Wednesday, February 14, 2007

I never experienced allergies until the spring of last year.  This year I would like to know what to do if and when my allergies come back.  Does anyone have any suggestions on first steps.

Thanks for writing. You are part of a large community of people (more than 35 million) who are suffering from allergies of some kind. The MyAllergyNetwork.com community provides advice from health care professionals and consumers about how to live well no matter what your health condition. Tips for Allergies offers suggestions to help you manage your allergies. Understanding Allergy offers an overview of causes, diagnosis, and treatment of the range of allergies. Our health expert Kathleen MacNaughton’s SharePost Trigger Avoidance Key to Allergy Symptoms Control offers suggestions for how to minimize contact with your allergy triggers as an effective prevention tactic. Her SharPoost Allergy Testing Can Help Identify Your Allergic Triggers is a good review of how your healthcare professionals can help assess your condition.

If you go to www.aaaai.org and put pollen counts in the search, you can see the specific amounts of each tree, weed, grass, and mold pollen.  I tracked this on my worst days, and was able to find out which pollens bothered me.  Then I could treat them accordingly.  Many people develop allergies as they age (and to get them in the 20's and 30's is very common).
