If anyone has any experience with dealing with eczema/ skin contact allergies... I'm begging for help and knowledge.  My son has been tested twice for allergies, once through blood, and once as a skin test.  Nothing showed up.  Of course, it isn't exactly accurate considering his age. ...
  1. My son experienced similar issue, but he slowly getting out

    Hi,

I exactly know how much you are desperate to get it over with this. My son is 2 1/2 yrs old. He Suffered with dry skin and dry patches with blood coming out of it since he was 3 months. It use to be sever only during winter, but recent times this started getting worse even in summer, he use to wake up in the middle of night with all rashes and keep scratching his legs and arms. His doctor prescribed non steroidal first time and it didn't work, so she prescribed steroidal cream. The Doc said the side effect for these steroidal are he may get cataract, thinning of the skin and so on. I dont want to use any kind of steriodial cream on my son's body. I searched all over the web, read 100s of post from other people and tried different things. Nothing worked at first, I tried two or three different suggestions at the same time. Someone suggested BACK BALM, (you can get this in rite aid, walgreens or any drug store. Its $9.00) someone posted that it worked for their kids. But BAG BALM didnt worked for my son, I tried for a week.

This is what I tried for past 3 days and his rashes are gone and his skin is smooth. He is slowly getting back to normal. Hope this works for your son too.

    1. I tried to limit his dairy intake(reduced his milk intake,I didn't avoided it though.)

    2. As soon as he wake up in the morning, I mixed Vaseline(baby) with Aveeno daily moisturizer in my palm and applied the affected area.

    3. Before his bath time the first day I mixed "TURMERIC POWDER(you can get this in any Asian-Indian store) 1/4 spoon with  4 oz of olive oil". I applied all over his body and more on his affected area and allow it to absorb for 15 minutes before his bath.  Half hour before his bath time, I soaked raw regular oats(put 1/2 cup oats in a socks and tie it with rubber band and put it inside a bowl of warm water and just squeeze the sock with your hands for 10 minutes or so inside the water). Then bath him with this water and then use baby liquid soap twice or thrice just to remove the yellow strain form his body and wash him throughly. Pat him dry and apply vaseline & avenoo baby lotion mixture. Dress him in cotton dress.

    4. After this first bath with turmeric and oilve oil, before every bath(morning and evening) just use olive oil. Apply all over his body for 10 minutes, massage him well and give him bath. Then pat him dry and apply the Vaseline & Aveeno Baby lotion mixture. Do this with every bath.

Trust me just two days you will see tremendous difference. Hope I am clear in my explanation, if you have any doubt email me at ras574@yahoo.com

P.S. (Turmeric powder is too yellow and leaves stain where ever you use, so to remove yellow stain use "409" spray as soon as the stain).

My 4.5 year old has battled eczema since he was born.  We were told he would out grow it at 2 then at 4, but in the last year it was been getting worse and it occurs more often.  We have been seeing an allergiest, who gave him a skin test and everthing came out negative.  So why the eczema?  I wasn't given an anwer for the cause only lots of medicines for the treatment.  The lastest episode has "eaten" his chest raw, patches around his eyes and now his back statred to break out.  We were given a med by the name ProTopic.  He cried about an hour after I put it on and itched like mad (he scratched so much he started to bleed) I got him in the shower and took it all off of him.  I don't care if it's what the allergist gave him it was causing more pain and discomfort.  I then went to my local health food store (which we know personally).  She gave us a jar of Calendula, Marigold (Calendula officinalis).  The same concept of healing as the previous post, but less intenous.  It a jar of yellow "lard" and I am amazed at my son's skin.   So much better.  I will only use this.  Honestly you need to do whats best for you.

My 2.5 daughter has growwn into a dairy, peanut and walnut allergy.  She never had an issue before.  It was like a light swtich off then it got flipped and hello allergies and epi-pen!  I asked the doctor, "If my daughter has grown into these allergies, why can my son have grown into new allergies (since his test came back negative to every thing)?"  well I never got a clear answer from the allergies.  So in a since I'm taking matters into my own hands.

From things I've read on eczema most problems are from food then other allergens.  It's process of emlimation.  We will soon start a gluten free diet. Although my allergist says if he doesnt have the runs then he doesnt have a gluten problem, but most gluten websites say that isn't the case.  Listen to your child and your heart.  YOU KNOW YOUR CHILD the doctor only knows what we remember to tell him in the office and what the test results say. Good luck to you.  Its a battle. check these places out if you need more help.

good idea to search eczema and ______ (whatever you might think is the trigger)

also for my son stress is a trigger i.e. going to a new place (this one doesn't bother him anymore, but was a problem at 2) or seperation aniexty.

Thanks for all of your information and help!  That's interesting "kikayberto" about the stress and separation anxiety setting it off.  I'll have to keep an eye on that.

After the allergist wasn't any help, we went to a dermatologist and she said that Allergists don't generally consider thinking about contact allergies... they are on one track minds for Airborne.  So she said that jackson has contact allergies to the pets most likely.  We got our beloved dog and cat out of the house and cleaned the house again and he's been fine.  We went and let him play with our dog to see how he would act and his face broke out.  So we pretty much found out the culprit.  I would like to see if he can get along with us having the dog but him not really playing or touching him.  That'll be hard because they love eachother so much.  I know I'm selfish but I don't want to get rid of my dog to strangers.  I want to try to bathe him weekly and use those dander wipes on him first before we make that huge decision.

We also tried reducing his dairy intake too.  Whether or not that helped, i don't know.  We are starting him back on 2% today and have yet to see if anything changes.

Raji- I am definitely going to save your info and try that next breakout to see if it helps.  Because he flares up around his eye and I don't want to use steroids either.

You're right, we do have to listen to our children.  I gave our pediatricians office a piece of my mind because I was in there 4 times in one month trying to tell them something was wrong and felt I got pushed aside and had to take matters into my own hands.  What the hell are we paying for?!  They just want us in and out to get their "ticket"... Next please.

Thanks for all of your help!
