There are several children's books available on-line that help explain food allergies in terms small children can understand. You may want to ask the teacher if you can read one of these books at storytime to help explain food allergies to the class. Another benefit to making sure your child's friends know about their allergies is that they can help raise the alarm if your child is having a reaction and there doesn't happen to be an adult in the immediate vacinity.

I hope these tips help as you start the new school year. Please check back next week as I discuss some not-so-pleasant interactions you may have to deal with as your food allergic child enters the school years.
