This is the worst yet - wonder if its THIS year's pollen?

By sqeeky Monday, April 12, 2010

Ive had asthma for 5 years, allergies far longer to pollen, dust, animals, grass.   I have had asthma attacks before that have lasted for a couple of days and once I get on prednisone they quickly resolve.  Sometimes I think I don't have asthma and can even come off my inhaled Sym bicort in the summer months.

5 days ago I woke up in the middle of the night and couldnt breathe.  Nothing was working for me, my albuterol inhaler didnt work, I was coughing all night long, wheezing and coughing so hard I was peeing my pants and almost vomiting.  I went to the doctor, who gave me an injection, inhalation therapy, prescribed higer dosage of Symibicort and put me on prednisone and antibiotics in case of bronchitis.   I occassioaly use a nebulizer at home, and started on that too every 4 hours.   The next day, my chest loosed up enough so that I could exhale abit, but I lost my voice entirely. That was 5 days ago.  I still can't talk at all and I'm still coughing as soon as I lay down, wheezing and coughing up really gross stuff.  I have gone throgh the antibiotics, but I probably need to be on something stronger because I believe I must have a lung infection that is exasberating everything.  I had the flu 3 weeks ago, and it got better and then BAM this hit me.   I'm miserable and I cant sleep for more than 2 hours at a time, sitting up stright.   Im going to a GP now, I think I need to see a specialist .
