I started getting allergy shots this is my second time and since my allergies have gotten a little worse. Is it normal to feel worse at first since after all they are injecting an allergen?

    Hi Asere,

If I recall correctly, there is some chance that the shots will make your allergies a little worse at first, because the idea of the shots is to help you build up an immunity to the allergen. If you are experiencing particularly bad symptoms, you might want to bring it up to your doctor.

In the meantime, there is an article here that explains more about allergy shots and how they work. You can also look here to get helpful hints about what you can do to ease your difficulty depending on your particular allergy.

Good luck and stay in touch. Let us know how you are doing!

Thank you that makes sense. One thing i forgot to mentio is that i own a small dog that i am used to and my allrgies with him is not that bad however i am taking care of my friends 2 dogs for awhile and so now i have 3 dogs at home. The thing is the day the other 2 dogs came to my place is the same day i started taking the allergy shots so i am having a difficult time figuring out if its the shots that have made me feel like i have more allrgies or maybe its too many dogs now.

    Hi Asere,

I can see where it would be difficult to tell which was causing the allergic reactions, the dogs or the shot. I think the shot might not have caused the allergic reaction, but might have made the allergic reaction to the dogs more pronounced.

It's been a while since this happened. How are you doing now?

When I read this question I couldn't pass it by. There is a more natural treatment for allergies. It is totally non-invasive, relatively cheap compared to shots and the time you have to invest to go and get shots weekly or bi-weekly. It takes anywhere from 5 to 10 visits, which is less time consuming. It is called N.A.E.T.

Look it up on the internet. Many naturopaths offer it. You owe it to yourself to try it. You have nothing to loose if you do. My husband was so ill with allergies to dust mites, pet dander (every pet we tried, including dogs, cats, rabbits, hamsters,, EVERYTHING.) He was allergice to every kind of mold, plant, grass, everything. He was so sick with allergies they were literally killing him. He missed work, he would have violent reactions and be bed ridden for days. He did the shots for 5 years every week when he was young. NOTHING WORKED until I found and ARNP who did N.A.E.T. I also tried shots for 5 years before I found this for dust mites and asthma. I was pretty sick also with allergies. This worked for me to. Most medical Doctors don't understand it or know about it. Just try it, I mean it. you have nothing to loose.

My e-mail is below if you want to talk more to me.

    Hi Nance,

Congrats on your success with the natural treatment for your allergies. Sometimes I think it is good for everyone to get back to their roots from time to time. (pardon the pun) but it is still best to make sure your doctor knows what suppliments or herbal remedies you might be taking to make sure there is no reaction with anything else in your life.

Take care, and stay in touch and let us know how you're doing!
