Itchy Throat

Of all the allergy symptoms I have, an itchy throat is the most bothersome for me. The only relief is when I can eat something and I cannot eat all day. Anyone have any suggestions? I am currently taking Claritin and it's not doing its job!

How late in life can allergies develop? I have a family member who had no instances of allergies until his late twenties. Will exposing children to a lot of different environments lower their chances of developing allergies later?
