Severe reaction with hemmohrage of eye due to Restasis & Optive eye drops. None with Refresh Liquigel drops-both from same company but only difference is glycerin. Broke out in rash over face, scalp and neck along with eye hennohrage. Explain connection please.

I wish I had an answer. I had a very similar reaction about 4 weeks ago. I had an eye hemorrhage with mild swelling and a rough, burning rash under both eyes. I stopped wearing my contact due to the hemorrhage, which means I stopped the drops as well. Slowly, the hemorrage and the rash cleared. When my eye was better, I went back to my contact and the drops. This time much of my face swelled, burned, and turned bright red. I had a bumpy, itchy rash on my neck. I have a phone call in to my opthalmologist and a pending appointment with a dermatologist.

When this all started, I immediately stopped wearing my contacts. I stopped the Restasis drops also, then tried the Optive, as suggested by my Opthalmologist. All symptoms came back and my vision took a bad turn. I had to have a new prescription that was filled and since I'm on Medicare, they won't pay for the glasses. Very frustrating and expensive. Now that I am only using the Refresh Contact Lens Comfort Drops, Moisture drops for dry eyes, things are back to normal and I am wearing my contacts again without any problems. I may try a dermatologist if any problems present themself ever again. Thank you for responding, I don't feel like I'm alone with this problem.
