Will Drixoral be manufactured again even though it is a first generation allergy med?

I have tried taking alternative allergy meds but they are not half as effective as Drixoral.  I have taken Drixoral for 33 years.  I almost panic when I think it will be taken off the market.

Hi Katy,

They say "you never know what you have till it's gone". Despite the multitude of newer antihistamines and decongestants currently available over the counter and by prescription, Drixoral appears to be sorely missed. Please refer to my answer to a similar question about Drixoral (click on this hyperlink).

Some reports indicate Drixoral may be back. I am exlploring this issue with Schering-Plough representatives and will report back shortly.

Until then, I have a suggestion in my previous answer.

Good Luck,

J. Thompson, MD.

This is the only allergy medicine that works for my family and I can't find it anywhere. It's been taken off the shelves of a number of drug stores and grocery store shelves in my area. I'm very upset and want to know what is going to replace it!
