Q: Can Astelin or Nasonex cause weight gain?

I am concerned that these steroid related drugs may cause weight gain.

Thanks for your question. Astelin's drug information indicates that weight gain can be a less serious side effect of the drug. However, Nasonex's drug information does not say anything about weight gain as a side effect.

You may find this helpful from the Nasonex Web site: "Nasal steroids like NASONEX® should not be confused with anabolic steroids, which are sometimes misused by athletes to enlarge muscle mass and can have serious side effects."
