Q: If you are allergic to cow milk can you take casein supplements?

I have a close family member with a health condition who now want to start a work out regime. The regime will include taking supplements to enhance muscle and strength building. I noticed that casein is a protein derived from milk. I am wondering if this person will be able to tolerate injesting high doses of this protein. I also want to know if there are alternative proteins that essentially do the same thing.
