Q: is grapejuice allergy common?

my son had a few episodes of hives, itchy welts swollen ears after drinking grapejuice.

the dr's are not convinced it was the grapejuice they think it may even be a virus.

a virus with no other symptoms?

he will soon be challenged with an allergist so we can get the answer.

would his ears turn red and swell up if it were a virus?

hard to know what it is, i hate not having answers.

if he drank the grapejuice saturday afternoon had the reaction, then had another one late that night and one the next morning, can it be the juice?

how long does it stay in your system?

Grapejuice is not a common food allergen.

The 8 most common food allergies are to soy, peanuts, tree nuts, fish, shellfish, cow's milk, eggs and wheat.

You are wise to see your allergist to get to the root of the problem. Let us know if you have any more questions.

Actually, it's not necessarily the grape juice, but an ingredient that could be causing the problem.  Take a look at

http://www.allergizer.com/50226711/bee_sting_allergies_from_grape_juice_and_wine.php. I find that when I drink grape juice, my heart starts racing shortly thereafter and I don't feel well for several hours after that.
