is grapejuice allergy common?

my son had a few episodes of hives, itchy welts swollen ears after drinking grapejuice. the dr's are not convinced it was the grapejuice they think it may even be a virus. a virus with no other symptoms? he will soon be challenged with an allergist so we can get the answer. would his ears turn…
