Q: Can an allergic reaction helped by SSRI?

My husband has seen a doctor about the rash that appears on his face at the suggestion of certain unknown chemicals in the area.  This is usually when I try to use any of my clothes that he has had me buy in the past few weeks.

The MD prescribed citalopram 20 mg daily.  My husband says this is just if he is feeling anxious, and insists he is not feeling any anxiety and that this drug will just change his body chemistry and he does not want to do that.

I think the MD may suspect some benefit to the rashes from the SSRI.  He says he can wait until the next appointment in 3 weeks to find out it he understood correctly that the med. is only in case he is feeling anxiety.

I think he should take the prescription, but now  I think he is totally set against it.  Any advice? Itchy's wife
