Monday, July 13, 2009 concerned dad asks

Q: what is the recommended dosage of childrens benadryl for a four year old? and how often?

my daughter is four years old and weighs approximately forty pounds.  her doctor recommended use of childrens benadryl.  i'm curious as to normally how much and how often that can be given.  my daughter does have allergies and slight asthma, but the benadryl does not seem to affect her asthma whatsoever.  also, we may use childrens tylenol from time to time. also is this something that should be continued on a regular basis even when she is not showing symptoms or is that because of a regular treatment?
