Hi Gloria,   I'll answer this, though you've addressed it to Dr. Thompson.   Actually, nasal rinsing is an age-old treatment that has just recently found new life, probably because more and more people are seeking alternative treatments to medication. It's become quite popular because it is "natural" and quite effective for most people.   Obviously, I can't speak for all physicians, but it is the medical model in our country to throw medicines at almost every condition. It's called "modern medicine" and is based on all of the great technology and research we have at our fingertips today, but what's interesting is that more and more physicians these days are embracing holistic medicine, where there is room in the treatment box for alternative/natural treatments, either to replace all the medicine or at least to reduce the need for it.   There are also more and more holistic physicians emerging. You may want to search for one in your area who is more attuned to your desired treatment approach.   Glad to hear you're feeling so much better!   To your continued health, Kathi
