my daughter has a red itchy eye and what looks like swelling underneath the eye ball when you open

my daughter has a red itchy eye that has been coming and going for about a week now, ive just looked at it though and it seems to have swollen in the fleshy bit underneath the eye ball. can anyone help, im really worried now??????
