Q: All over itching, what can I do?

I have been having general itching (truly all over, head to toe, even inside my ears, nose) with a slight stinging sensation for about two weeks or so. There is no rash. I have been taking benadryl and claritin, though they help a bit, they don't make it go away. I have not changed anything in my diet, laundry detergent, body soap or shampoos. No new medications, I have been only on verapamil 240mg ER for two years. I don't use lotions, haven't traveled recently, no new clothes, no food allergies. I get this same kind of intense whole body itching/stinging sensation if I take any opiates, which I avoid because of this unpleasant experience, not worth any amount of pain relief. I don't have any other notable symptoms, and am not 'stressed' or 'anxious' besides having this awful problem. Being on a tight budget, seeing a doctor will have to wait. Is there anything more I can do for relief? Any advice on what to ask the doctor? I cannot afford a multitude of tests.
