is benadryl available in prescription-strength or is it just over-the-counter?

My dad recently had a pain pump inserted. The new Rx is causing severe itching. While in the hospital, the nurses gave him benadryl shots. The over-the-counter benadryl is not helping.  He was told the itching would stop was his body grew accustomed to this new medicine.  In the…
