Q: I have had mucus and cough with mucus since Sept 2008! Alergy testing negative.

I have had some minor drainage since I moved to NW Arkansas in 1985 I had drainage

and coughing the first week here! I was however ok with Bendryl occasionally back then.

Now this is totally out of control since Sept 2008! I take 12 hour Claritin and somedays it does not work. I did a cat scan of my sinus no infection, chest xray it was good, then a barium swallow test that show minor reflux disease. But I find that hard to believe during the day when my drainage is so bad even with Claritin that it runs out my nose and on my desk. I am worn out please someone give me some ideas what to do next!

Hi Bren,

Sounds to me like you need a second opinon (or third). There should be some explanation as to what is plaguing you. Meanwhile, start keeping a detailed log of your symptoms, when they occur, what helps, what doesn't, what you were doing right before they occurred. Be sure the share that log with the new doctor.

I would encourage you to contact an ear, nose, and throat specialist (ENT doctor).
