Q: Shellfish allergy does it mean I am also allergic to fish?

I am a 42 year old female who experiences projectile vomiting after eating shrimp.  My father has the same reaction to shellfish.  I have been able to eat fresh water fish like Walleye with no problem.  I would like to take fish oil supplements that are made from herring, mackerel and anchovies.  I have always avoided those kinds of fish (ocean fish) thinking that I may have a reaction to them like I do to shrimp.  Do you think it is safe for me to try the fish oil supplement?  Or should I see an allergist first to do allergy testing?  Thank you.
