I am looking to buy a tarantula and my dad has a life threatening bee allergy.  he is afraid that the venom of bees and tarantulas are the same.  is this true or is my dad just paronoid?

Hi Mothball2569,

I have found nothing to indicate that bee venom and tarantula venom are the same. However it is possible your father could have a similar reaction to the sting of either. Kidshealth.org says it is rare for a tarantula bite to be dangerous. But they are painful.

it sounds like your dad is not comfortable with the trantula. Perhaps you should hold off for now.

Stay in touch and let us know how you are doing!
