Hi snowl, You need to consult with a doctor to find out the root cause of your coughing. We can't diagnose you here. But I can tell you that a cough is sometimes a symptom of asthma, which you can get even if you've never had allergies and even if you're an adult.

I'm not saying you have asthma; you'd have to be diagnosed by a doctor. It might be worth checking out though. If you do have asthma, I find that when I get to coughing like that, a puff from my rescue inhaler stops it right away.

Take care,

Kathi
