Q: Is Drixoral safe for kids?

What are Drixoral equivalent for kids?  My 8-year daughter is suffering from severe allergy with symptoms of back-nasal dripping.  Nothing has worked so far.  Drixoral works on me when I have the same symptoms.  It's supposed to be for children of 12 and older.  Can we give the younger children, say, half of a pill?

It's not a good idea to use adult medications on kids without specific instructions from a healthcare professional who knows your child and her medical history. Much depends on body weight and history.

I would encourage you to contact your daughter's doctor and ask that question. Failing that, talk with your local pharmacist about preparations specifically made for children having allergy symptoms like your daughter's.

Take care,

Kathi
