Tuesday, September 09, 2008 Leigh Anderson asks

Q: I take Symicort for my allergic asthmatic symptons. It seems to be making my hair very straw like.

Is there anything I can do about this?

Hi Leigh,

I haven't read about that being a side effect of Symbicort, but that doesn't mean it's not possible. Different people react in different ways to medicines sometimes. Of course, you can try various hair care products that may moisturize or add protein, but the only other option I can see, if this side effect is really bothersome, is to discuss with your doctor other medication alternatives to Symbicort. For example, Advair is another similar combination type inhaler that uses 2 different medicines from the ones in Symbicort. So it might be worth a try.

To your health,

Kathi
