Allergies are kind of weird. We know what's going on in the body during an allergic attack, but we don't know why it's happening, other than the body going haywire over something it sees as a threat, that is actually harmless to other people.   Experts don't really know for sure why one person will be allergic to shellfish while another can eat it with no problems at all. Or why you might have eaten shellfish all your life without reacting to it and then one day, you go into an anaphylactic attack.   But if your daughter is allergic to shellfish now, then you must accept it. Food allergies rarely go away. In fact, they often get increasingly worse with each new exposure. Talk with your doctor to get more information that is directly related to your daughter and ask whether she should carry injectable epinephrine to fend off future attacks.   Take care, Kathi
