Hi Sally, Sounds like you've had some frightening experiences! Allergic reactions can sometimes be severe, as you've seen, and totally unexpected. The EpiPen, when used quickly and correctly, can lessen the severity of anaphylaxis and is a great idea for people with known anaphylaxis events to carry.

You have every right to discuss this with your physician. You might also want to think about getting a Medi-Alert bracelet or necklace that will alert emergency personnel to your penicillin allergy in the case of another event with you losing consciousness, where you cannot speak up for yourself.

So, yes, talk with your doctor about the EpiPen! Advocate for yourself.

To your health,

Kathi

I would say dont take them. I am allergic to penicillin and i have asthma. Anaphalactic shock can be deadly. Go see your gp for something else if you need the tablet.
