Q: red swollen eyeball (not eyelid or surrounding area; the actual eye itself)

my daughter's actual eyeball is swollen. She woke up early this morning eye was fine. She went back to sleep and woke up, eye was swollen, reddish yellow, and glassy. What could be wrong? We have an appointment at her pediatric today, but I am curious to know now.

My son had this back in 2003.  Happened twice.  Allergic reaction to something.  I changed his bed sheets, shampooed the house carpet, washed his jacket in non fragrance detergent. Washed his curtains and shampooed all animals with alllergy shampoo and took him to eye doctor to get medication and gave him benedryl.  Made him drink only water for a week to cleanse his body.  Never came back again.
