Can eczema cause eyes to be swollen shut after playing with a dog?

Can swollen eyes be from eczema? The allergist says so because his allergy tests were all negative. But he plays with the dog... 10 minutes later his eyes are swollen shut!! Help!! Need answers before we have to make the decision on getting rid of our dog.
