I've had the exact same symtoms. Red swollen eyelids, rashy neck, itchy ear lobes, redish nose and random outbreaks of all these symptoms I feel like it could be flavored dairy creamers (Coffee mate), feathers or both. In any event, I've been to the allergist and the dermatologist. I've had patch testing and cut grass was the only serious allergic reaction he could find. He gave me Zyrtec (which did not help). The dermatologist prescribed Locoid Lipocream which seems to help. However, I was taking a vitamin Flax, fish and Borage which also seems to help.  I almost feel like it's a deficiency of some sort now. I though at one point it was a horomone issue as I remember that my mother used to complain about the same thing as she went though menopause (maybe like a symptom). We both had hysterectomy in our thirties. We both experienced this in our fourties.

Well, If you have a swollen eye, its either a bug bite. Or you have been rubbing your eyes with dirty hands. So soak a cold towel in cold water and apply it to the swollen eye.

Did you every find an answer to your question? I am having the exact same symptoms. What I found interesting about yours is the things youo were exposed to! I use the coffe mate flavored cream, but always have. I have been using feathers for making hats for a play my daughter is in. My eyes are almost swollen shut and I have a rash on my face, necjk and ears! If you had an answer, let me know. I am heading to the doctor tomorrow.

Hi everyone, I am 55 years old and going through menopause, I get the rash on my neck and eye lids an occasionally on my chest area. I have found Aloe Vera gel u can buy at chemist soothes it and cools the burning sensation a bit . Keep putting in on if it's itching. Also paw paw cream helps as well. Haven't worked out what's causing it yet. Thinking something in nuts mixture I've been eating or something in chocolate or wine as had these recently and has flared up again. Strange thing when away on holidays in Fiji never had the rash. Didn't eat these items when away. Also thought might be my dog causing it because naturally she wasn't with me on holidays now back home rash is back . Going to stop eating certain things to see how long the rash stays away. Will let u know if I work it out. Reply

Have you found something to get rid of it...I also have the rash on my inner arms at the elbow and even in my nether regions...I've been using an anti-fungal cream for about two weeks, but it doesn't seem to be helping...I am 60 so have already been through menopause...I'm miserable and would appreciate any info you have on the subject.

I don't use make up and haven't in many years...I have not taken any drugs in years, except an occasional Ibuprofen...haven't changed shampoos or laundry soap...I don't think this is an allergy and I'll try to continue on the anti-fungal cream...it said up to 4 weeks for a rash besides athletes foot...I'll keep you posted if it helps...I still have the rash after 1 1/2 - 2 weeks of the treatment...I can't use it twice a day, like it says to do, because it makes me itch worse, so just using once a day...may take twice as long to get rid of it...I'll still keep you posted if the Lotromin works.

Hi I'm femal from yorkshire and 25 and im suffering with the same now in 2013! this is going in a long time. Does any one have any updates??? please!! in January my eyes started watering, by April they were literally streaming with tears constantly. Then one day in may I woke up with swollen itchy eyes, the swelling became worse every day until they were swollen shut, the skin around my eyes was sore to touch, and over a few days became very dry, red, scaled and flaking. I then one morning about 5 days after my eyes flaring up woke up with a very itchy angry rash on my neck. On the side of my neck, by the next day it was on both sides of my neck. My rash started mild and became very very angry. It then spread to above my bum crack and under both arms going down my sides. I visited my gp several times and tried, various anti histamine tablets in various doses, various anti histamine eye drops, antibiotic eye drops, fake tear eye drops and non worked. I was given a steroid cream for my neck which helped but didn't remove the rash. I then saw an ophthalmologist who gave me steroid eye drops and my eyes improved never got better, I then had a 5 day cause of steroids whilst using the steroid eye drops and the steroid cream on my body, everything 95% cleared up for about a week. But has come straight back. I have seen a dermatologist who recommended I use e45 on my rashes including my eyes but until I took the oral steroid tablets I was unable to put e45 on my eyes as it burnt like fire on the skin, I didn't get it in my eyes its just that's how sensitive and sore they are. Once I have taken the steroids and the rash isn't as bad I can use e45 on the eyes but I've found aveeno is better, and was recommended by another dermatologist. I was given 1% menthol aqueous cream for my neck and body which was good despite the menthol smell, it tingles. Do not use near the face or eyes, my now ex dermatologist said and reassured me I could use it on my face and eyes which resulted in alot of pain and tears. I have had the prick allergy test for grasses, pollens, dust mites, dogs cats, mold etc.... All negative. I have had a blood test for allergies which was a Rast? Test again negative, and I have had a patch test for the 60 things they test and every piece of make up and perfume and lotion I own so over 100 items and all were negative, except nickel which I already know about and avoid contact with, so I know it isn't that. I'm relieved I'm not allergic to cobalt which is common if your allergic to nickel and is sometimes used in mascara and eyeshadow, but frustrated I'm no wiser. My dermatologist dismissed me as the steroids fetched my reaction down alot, but within 2-3 days I'd flared back up and had to have an emergency appointment with my gp for more steroid tablets, a different antihistamine eye drop and tablet. I do not want to have the steroid eye drops again as over 5 weeks I've had 3 weeks of steroid eye drops and they can cause glycoma and other nasty effects if used long term. I have complained about been discharged without diagnosis and still having the same symptoms, as I was still suffering just less, now I'm back to it been bad though, and I'm seeing another dermatologist tomorrow. Having read this I will ask for food allergy tests. I have also had my blood hormone levels checked as I have had blood leaking from one nipple since this started. I have also been passing blood in my stool. Hormone levels are normal though. I do take tramadol, paracetamol, ibuprofen, diazepam for pain after an accident four years ago, so it could be an allergic reaction to medication I suppose but I have mentioned this and they dismissed me. I have been looking online for a month or two and only seem forms of lupus and Steven johnsons syndrome have similar symptoms but much worse, I'm just lost. Its ruining my life, I can't go out because I'm light sensitive with my eyes, they're swollen shut anyway and I look awful covered in rashes. I missed a hen do and only made a wedding because I took steroids and I was still not right. My eyes are swollen on the inside and the outside goes from puffy to full on swollen shut, they skin around my eyes and any area that becomes rashy is very itchy and then very sore and itchy and then starts to thicken and scale. I have suffered with psoriorsis for 12 years on my scalp and I know this is not that, my dermatologists and gps have all stated it is definitely not psoriorsis. I have never before had any sort of allergy. I have had shingles 2 years ago, and the were ophthalmic but they went away and i was fine, I also used to get cornea users as a child but not in 15 years, and this isn't an ulcer or conjunctivitis as I remember it and opthamologist agrees. If you have a history of eye ulcers be extra careful with steroid drops as they can cause the ulcers to come back!! I was lucky they didn't but stopped the eye drops with gradual reduction as soon as I was warned after 2 weeks use, reducing for a week. Stopping immediately can cause side effects. I also now was my eyes with warm boiled water and no tears johnsons baby shampoo every morning, afternoon and night, as this is recommended for blepheritis which I've been told its not that, but I think its better safe and it ensures they are extra clean from whatever's causing this. I use mainly hypo allergenic products and I had everything tested so I know its 100% nothing I use, I can't really wear much makeup with all the washing and drops and swelling and sores though! I have never heard of anyone having these symptoms, I can't find anything online except others like you with the same symptoms and no answers. Its been 2 months of hell for me and 7 months of annyoining irritation. Also my throats been feeling a little close never sore, not all the time but on and off. I'm also very achy and fatigued but this may be from having alot if physio recently to get back walking normally. Think that's everything I can share about me, my symptoms and what I have found to work or not work. If I do get answers I promise to post again. Any advise at all please please let me know. Good luck to everyone. Reply

Allergy to nail polish, nail gels, soaps, cosmetics, fragrances, or lotion.

It doesn't have to be a new product, sometimes you develop an allergy to something you have been using for years.

Not sure  if it is the same but I had really swollen eyes, heat, itchy and the redness traveled down my nose line. It was horrible eventually had to be prescribed steroid. All the doctors I went to told me it was because of my allergies... the I was diagnosed with Lyme disease. Something to look into.

I have had variations of this for the past few months and went to the Dr. who told me it is most likely allergies and to take Zyrtec for about 30 days....

Now- I have the rash on my neck again and it is dry and itchy... zyrtec appears to NOT be helping..... not sure I should go to the dermatologist now or what???

Did you find out anything more? My symptoms come and go as well and I was for sure it was flavored coffee creamer but now I'm not sure. I went to the dermatologist and he prescribed Locoid Lipocream (I think it's steroids). He diagnosed it as psoriasis and the cream it seems to help. However, these are very specific symptoms from what Im reading which leads me to believe it could be something besides an allergy.

Woke up about a week ago with itchy neck and it went away in a couple of days. This morning it is back and now I have swollen eyelids. Known intolerance for nuts, but extremely mild. However, I just realized I've eaten almonds in three different forms the last 3 days and probably built up a toxic level. No throat constrictions at all, just the neck and eyelids. Anyone have any OTC cream to suggest to alleviate the itching? I'm using oatmeal chilled in the fridge and that seems to help.

I've had the same problem but started on my left eye and my lips were tingling and felt burnt.  That went away after the dr. put me on steroid.  But she told me its likely to come back after I finished the steroid.  It did but now its an itchy red rash just on my neck.  I also know its ragweed season and I always get headaches and sneezing from that.  Ragweed starts like clockwork every Aug 15 give or take a day.  I feel like perfume is making this rash worse, but could it be causing it too?

Sounds to me like an allergic reaction similar to mine.  Benadryl (over the counter) helped me a lot (but made me sleepy, too).  I'd rather take that than steriods.  Have been back to normal for a couple of weeks with no recurrence so I think the nuts were my problem.  Seems like perfume would not aggravate it, but you never know.

Hey, gang: Just recently got rid of my very persistent rash around my eyes and wanted to post my experience, in case it mirrors anyone else's. I had been using cortisone cream for two straight years on a rash that wouldn't go away. It'd flare up and I'd use cortisone to keep it somewhat under control, but it'd always come back. Finally, after seeing a number of dermatologists, I saw a Dr. Rappaport in Beverly Hills who informed me that my skin had developed a dependency on cortisone, and the only way to correct the problem was to stop taking cortisone altogether. He said the rash would flare up terribly (which it did), but that after a couple of months, it would finally go away for good. I've been free from cortisone cream for two and a half months now, and the rash is completely gone. Hope this information helps!

Did the dermatologist tell you what the original cause of your rash was?  I have the same dry red flaky redness on my skin between my eyelids and eyebrow region and also on my neck which keeps coming back.  I've use steroid creams before but haven't been using it consistently.  Went to go see a dermatologist and an allergist who had no definitive answer to what may be causing these rashes.  I'm hoping that somehow my skin will build tolerance to whatever it is, but how long did your flare up last?

I see that your post was back in 2009.  I am curious to learn what may have helped you.

7 days ago I awoke with swollen eyelids, upper and lower.  They were red, itchy, and scaley.  I noticed too that my cheeks and around my eyes as well as some of my neck was itchy and scaley too.

I am assuming that I touched something that I am allergic too.  I've thrown out all of my make-up and won't use the new stuff until I am well.  I've never had food or skin allergies before.  I am a 50 year old female in excellent health, otherwise.

How are you now?  Did it ever go away completely?  How long did it last?

I have very similar symptoms and have no idea what it is. The doc said it's an allergic reaction but how often do allergic reactions cause weeping rashes? It started with just my eye feeling a bit swollen and itchy, i thought i'd been bit by a bug. The next morning I work to find my eye even more swollen, a red rash that itches on the back of my neck and side of my cheek, and a weeping itchy rash behind my ear. All of these are on the right side of my face / head. The doctor gave me corticosteroid and told me to use cortizone also but it seems worse this morning! If anyone has any idea as to what this is please post it. My right eye is almost swollen shut now. :(

It's spreading out, it feels swollen and red, and it itches. but there is no blisters. it's just Red. This is the second time it happen. Both times it happen in the winter...come to think maybe it's a cold weather thing and stress maybe I have no clue.

Within a week, for the first time in 2 months, all my symptoms were completely gone.

Maybe that's what it was because steroids are what fixed it for me to. Actually the first set of steroids weren't strong enough so they had to give me the max dose. It was something like 10mg a day tapering down over the course of 2 weeks i think.

i have the exact same thing. swollen eyelids, itchy ears and when i scratch for too long a clear liquid comes out. When the rash came up on my eyes it wasnt that bad, but then i got in a fight with my brother and i cried and as the tears came down my face, every where the tears touched my face turned red. it stayed like that for about a week. also once when the rash was on my eyes my ears started itching and oozing. i got really got and my breath got short, started sweating really bad and felt like i was going to pass out. its really pissing me off. i think its an alleric reaction but i dont know what causes it. and it never gets very noticible if i dont itch it. ive been to the doctor several times and he always perscribes me creams which never seem to work. if i stop smoking for a couple of days it flares up but some times it flares up even when i am smoking. my ear is all red right now and itchy and i want to know what caused it. is anyone out there smarter than my doctor?

The only thing I've found that works on this kind of rash is Neem oil and Egyption Beauty cream.  These products can be found at Central Market.  I had an itchy rash on my eyelids, neck, ears and shoulders that began in  April.  It's really important to keep your eyelids clean and moisturized.  Neem oil smells like rotting garlic and takes some getting use to but if you layer it on with the Egyption Beauty cream (which is really just Aloe Vera), within just a couple of days, you should feel considerably better. Keep the Neem oil out of your eyes-it burns!   This rash is probably going to be chronic so keep up the cleaning and moisturizing everyday without fail.  I feel so much better.  I took steriods and used cortizone cream.  Nothing works as well as the above products.  Hope this helps.

I developed a similar rash this past summer. It got to the point where one of my eyes were so swollen it looked like I had been punched. Since it was only around my eyes, neck and ears, the docs assumed it was some type of allergic reaction, put me on prednisone 7 days. At the end of the 7 days, it started coming back, but worse. It was not something you could really go out in public with, much less work. I went back to the doc and told them, as always, I have not used any new products and since I have had eczema growing up I was used to not using any new or scented products. The only thing new I was taking was the antidepressent called amitriptyline (brand name: Elavil), prescribed for migraine prophylaxis. The doctor said she did not think the reaction was from the amitriptyline and put me on prednisone again 7 days. 7 days of perfect skin until the last day it started coming back again.

I called my neurologist who prescribes the amitriptyline and told him about the rash. He said he would give me something else and within a week of stopping the med the rash dissapeared. Come to find out based on my own reading, that particular drug can cause some type of photosensitivity which results in a rash in areas exposed to the sun. It makes sense since it was nowhere else on my body and I had seriously avoided other allergens, but I can't know for sure. This was in August 09 and now its Feb 10 and guess what? Rash is back! No new meds, lotions.... It's getting a bit ridiculous. I thought I would comment in case anyone else has ever taken amitryptyline and had this problem.....Maybe some insight about the past can help the future.

I developed this over the last 5 weeks. Itchy swollen eyes which eventually get scaley and the neck rash, only around the back of my neck. very srange since nowhere else itches. Been through the allergy shot, the prednisone, emergency room, shot again, dose pack, benadryl, alegra... the thing is, while I am on any treatment the symproms go away and within days after the treatment the symptoms would come back. These would occur mostly overnight after I eat. What am I allergic to? I cannot tell. Tried elimination but noticed that i was still swelling up even though I was not eating some things. Stil in the process of elimination. THis week it is wheat, (bread, cakes, flour etc) We will see. I am tired of swelling up. At one point I was even afraid to eat. One week I ate cereal and bread, but by Wednesday afternoon I was at the emergency room itching and swollen. Had not though of wheat at that time. Seemed so simple. Have been eating, and love bread all of my life. Maybe the allergy test will help. A lot of people seem to get that grass result. Any way it is most lokely an allergic reaction, hopefully elimination will help me find out what or whatever bug it is it will pass through my system sooner than later. In the meantime I am taking allegra, it is non-drowsy and eating with caution. Also drinking a lot of water. I am planning to try detox also.

I've been reading all these comments and I see myself in each and every one. I have swollen, red itchy eye lids on both eyes actually but one is worse then the other. I now have a rash which is very itchy on one side of my neck and continuing around to the back of my neck. I have had the eye issue for months my neck just for the last month.  I have been using sea buckthorn oil and cream on all the itchy areas. It does give relief. I am almost positive I'm alergic to something but what? I avoid going to the doctor at all costs. I'm more into a natural remedies if I can. Thus the sea buckthorn products. One thing that I going to avoid is strawberries. Over the course of a few months I have eaten many. I think this may be a trigger.

I would like to add a footnote to my posting. It has been a week now of not eating strawberries, the redness is going from my eyelids. But what has  happened now is my eyelids have become very dry, the skin is very flaky. I'm taking this as a good sign. I'm also using a natural cream called Boiron (with Ledum Palustre, Apis Mellifica Calendula) in it. This has stopped the itching on my neck. All in all I think I'm seeing a vast improvement in my condition.

hi everyone i dont directly know how you all feel but i do understand your frustration for answers.

i have a little girl who will be 4 in jan and since she was 1 she has suffered with servear excema, asthma, food and enviromental allergies. she has always suffered with the normal food allergie signs and flear ups of the excema when she has come into contact with one of her allergens. We started to go to a top london hospital with the best pediatric team in the uk a few months back. we start down the normal root of taking out milk and soya together and each one indervidually but neither made a difference.

over the last month she has started to intermittedly react in the same ways you have discribed. red itch eyes (almost red and ringed round her eyes) rash on her neck (very small condenced spots) ears becoming itchy but she also comes out in hives all over her the rest of her body.

unfortuanatly  we have yet to see her consultants since these break outs have started happening. we are due to go next month in january. but knowing my daughter she will proberly be clear that day so i have tonight taken photos of her to show them if needed.

this perticualar out break tonight was 2 days after finishing a short cause of oral steriods (have had them since 1 never had a problem with them) and while being on antibiotic and a rountine dose of antihistamines and a normal routine of steriod creams. so in theroy she should not have come up in the unexplained way.

i will post again once i have been and let you know what is said

i know this post is old and im about 2 years late but for people like me that look things up online i hope to still be able to help them

i will post again once i have been and let you know what is said

i know this post is old and im about 2 years late but for people like me that look things up online i hope to still be able to help them

My daughter started having similar symtoms at about 4 yrs old, did a 96 food allergy test through my natropath, I started food elimination based on the test result, and rebuilding her gut flora plus(probiotic) a high quality fish oil plus enzyme when eating cooked food, check for zinc and  magnesium deficiency, these are required to break down fats and proteins, have been giving zinc and magnesium for about a month now, she seems to be responding well to food she was sensitive to will introduce slowly.

Symtoms: flaking around eyelids for glutein , reds sometimes weeping spots around mouth for casein, also sensitive to pineapple, tomato, almond, orange, honey and a few others.  Hope this helps

I have had this for 2yrs now off and on.  My eyelids start to get itchy (blepheritis I believe) then all around my nose and eyes itches and I get a red welt under my eye.  It all starts with a warning that it's comming from a flat red rash on my neck...then my eyes swell almost shut..totally disfiguring my face.  Also my ears get all wet and icky with eczema or whatever in them and I often loose my hearing.  What the... is it??? I cannot figure it out to save my life.  Been to an ear specialist and to my doctor and to a dermatologist, and they have all just released me after trying to figure it out and say "we just don't know".  I've tried not wearing makeup for 4mths thinking it was that..but it wasn't.  The only thing that works for me is prednisone..and that is not cool to take.  I often wonder if it's an auto immune disorder as my body seems to be attacking itself...very very odd.  I hope a doctor out there reads this and has dealt with this before.  Any answers would be amazing.

I have been going thru it for 4 years!  Can't figure it out but I do know this:

1.  Many people are allergic to fingernail polish and have the same symptoms.

2.  It could be a combination or 2 or 3 things so during your research do not rule out anything.

I may have found my issue with almonds.  I go to the allergist next week for food testing.  Wish me luck!

i have the same thing. I am a mature woman. it just came on suddenly. first i had an itchy scalp then it slowly spread. it comes in bursts, goes away for weeks then it sback again exactly the same. you cant see the rash, it feels as tho it is under my skin. It has now moved into my eyes and i feel it inside my ears as well. I was hoping it was viral and would work its way out of my system. it followed a nasty viral flue infection in november. perspiration and heat make it worse but it is there under the skin all of the time. I have resisted scratching, and rub oatmeal and calomine based lotions into it and keep as cool as possible until it settles. but back it comes again.

i dont think it is an allergic reaction as i have not changed medication or shampoor or perfume or anything. i reduced my washing powder (the same one i have used for years) in case that was a problem. sometimes i think it is a nerve breakdown in the skin. my doctor laughed it off the only time i told him about it.

a child of a family i know was complaining to his parents of a rash on his head. another child talks about feeling a funny tingly thing on her arms which she scratches and they go away. it may be contagious.

i am depressed now after reading you comments. one thing i can add. i took an antibiotic last november when i was ill with sinus infection. not mhy normal doctor. he gave me an antibiotic that they warned i should not go into the sun whilst taking it. i was on a beach holiday. i lathered myself with sunscreen but didnt stay inside. the rash started once i got home. could it be that. i cant remember thename of it.

perhaps you could all think whether you took an antibiotic prior to the rash first starting.

has anyone found a solution yet?

Its an allergy to mold, algae or fungus. most likely it is in your bedding or air ducts. I recently started to suffer the same symptoms and the villian travelled on my loving dog and right into my bedding and mattress, and probably my carpet. Anti-fungal powder worked great at first to sooth the itch and soreness plus it was less risky to put on my eye lids. Desenex I found to be soothing and the pharmicist recommended tinactin which I sprayed onto my hand and wiped gently on the areas that needed treatment. Tea tree oil and 100% pure aloe from the plant was wonderful after the soreness was under control, but the allergy will not go away until you have isolated the carrier and cleansed it entirely of the allergen. Good luck to you all.  I have a house to decontaminate.

I was taking Tamoxifen during 4 years, after having a couble mastectomy. About a year into the Tamoxifen treatment I got the weardest rash, on my upper chest, all around the neck and all over my face, my ears - and in the bend of the right arm. (Nowhere else on the body) Red, itchy and swelling. It kind of changed and moved around, but still only on the upper chest, around the neck, the face, the ears and the bend of the right arm. After some days my face was swollen and I literally looked like a ninety year old lady (even though I was 39) My eyes were hardly visible at all. And my voice got hoarse. The doctors were trying to find out the reason - without success. The only thing that helped was Prednisone and a couple of prescription creams (Desonide and another I can't remember the name of). The symptoms went away but came back frequently. Finally, after more than a year of struggling, I googled the symptoms and Tamoxifen and found a website were women were posting Q&A's. Many other women had experienced the same thing. I talked to my oncologist and I got off the Tamoxifen for two weeks. Towards the end of the second week my son (5 years old at the time) said: "Mom, you don't look like a dragon any more!!!". I got on Tamoxifen again, and the symptoms returned. Got off, and they disappeared. After trying "on/off 4 times, with exactly the same result we were certain that Tamoxifen caused the problems. I continued the Tamoxifen treatment until 3 years ago and didn't have any problems at all with rash, swelling, itching, etc... UNTIL THIS SUMMER, when I had a small flare up for a week, but it went away on it's own. In November  I had a new huge flare up, just like it was when I was taking Tamoxifen. Got Prednisone and it went away. In December it came back, even worse. My face was so swollen that my friends wouldn't recognize me. Prednisone helped again. Yesterday it came back and I just started a new round of Prednisone. I have some allergies but none of them would explain this reaction. MY OWN CONCLUSION at this point is: Tamoxifen trigged this reaction the first time. Last year I got into perimenopaus. Tamoxifen and perimenopaus/menopaus are both messing with your HORMONES. So now I'm:

1. Going to let my allergist, oncologist, endocrinologist and gynecologist communicate and coordinate hormonial tests and suggest treatments

2. Focus on alternative treatments for getting a better balance of my hormones (in addition to yoga, excercise and meditation)

I have the exact symptoms and believe that it is Psoriasis. Many treatments are available but not a precise cure. Sunlight and vitamin D are two of the main treatments (going to Fiji did help) and there are certainly many creams. Reply

I have just developed itchy red eyelids and behind my ears.  Now it has moved to my neck at the hairline.  I have been putting calendula cream and/or neem oil on it and it helps a lot.  I am also taking Borage Oil tablets and believe that it is helping too. Dermatologist thought it was either Excema or Dermatitis and said keep using whatever is working.  I was told that Cortisone cream is terrible for skin and thins it and I was told not to use.  I believe this started when I was stressed out and have read that this could also occur if you are dehydrated.  I hope this helps some.

Hello everyone I've woken up 3 times in the past month with swollen eyelids, hives on my neck, and once my throat felt like it was going to close on me, very scary! At first I thought it might be due to shellfish, I've ate it ally life but I know ppl could become allergic as adults, however the third time this occurred I was no where near shellfish. All I could think of now is that around the first occurrence I had been working out (I've read working out can cause food allergies) to go along with my workout I was drinking whey protein (found in chocolate, cake, ice cream, coffee cream, in other wrds milk products). I'm staying away from these things right now until I get tested tomorrow, but I was wondering if the ppl who wrote about coffee cream are having reactions to other milk products as well? Reply

So I just got out of baz allergy center, I only got tested for top ten food allergens because the 80 they offer cost $700 without insurance. I paid $200 and was tested for the following: Cow milk Egg whites Wheat Corn Soybean Tuna Peanuts Tomato Almond Shrimp Many of these I ate on the days I woke up swollen w hives. All came back positive, I'm allergic to all. Idk what I will be eating from now on. :0( this really sucks Reply

I am yet another sufferer of swollen, red, itchy eyelids, and a spreading rash, starting at my neck. I have had these recurring symptoms over a number of years, but this year is the most persistent to date. I have tried various remedies and medications with no lasting effects. I am well past the menopause, healthy (in other respects), and lead a pretty active life. I do own a dog, so this could be a factor. This winter is particularly cold and windy, which seems to add to the discomfort. I am pursuing some more holistic theories, and will certainly report back with any developments. Good luck to us all. Reply

Hi, it's Jeanette here. Having suffered this horrible, recurring, condition for several months, I finally consulted an holistic practitioner. After using a diagnostic machine, to which,I was hooked for an hour, he said that he believed the problem originated in my gut, and prescribed a medley of medicinal remedies, one of which was Shea Butter, as a topical treatment for by, very sore and swollen eyes. The treatment started an improvement within days, and I returned for further diagnosis in three weeks. The practitioner adjusted some of my medication, and this soon completed my recovery. I had also discovered that I had developed an allergy to my regular hair dye, so am no longer a blonde! I continue to use the Shea Butter as part of my regular routine, and take 11-12 LAX if I see any sign of the rash returning. Dior mascara seems to be super non-allergic, as does Clinique toner no.3. I do think that different remedies are probably more appropriate for individuals, so do not want to be too specific about medication. So far, so good! I would definitely recommend finding a good holistic healer, and persuing this course with him or her until you find the correct remedy for you. Good luck, and bright blessings. Reply

Allergy to nail polish, nail gels, soaps, cosmetics, fragrances, or lotion.

It doesn't have to be a new product, sometimes you develop an allergy to something you have been using for years.

Some These symptoms are typical of strep throat in adults, not to be confused with the same set of symptoms children get.. It is very different in adults. If left untreated it can come and go for months .. A few of the question/answers listed here do sound good intolerance in nature. However, most are classic adult strep throat symptoms. Adults rarely present with a sore throat and symptoms can be really odd. Along with your same list of symptoms i wake and feel like my hip is "out of socket" strep can do a number on your joints too! I am having similar symptoms. I am now on my second round of oral steroids (symptoms returned after the first one). Now the rash has spread to my entire body. It is possible that the body rash is an allergic reaction to the antibiotics I took with the first round of steroids (for a staph infection they found). That doesn't explain why it started on my face in the first place, though! I have been to two gps and a dermatologist, and they don't know what caused it. I can't afford an allergist until I get some insurance. Question- this may seem off topic, but have many of you had root canals? I have two, and I have heard they can lead to other problems. Call me paranoid... but there seems to be some science behind it. Reply

I'm a 55 year old female who has also developed a oval, red, flaking, itchy rash on my eyelids above the crease on the outer 2/3's of the eyelid. Plus crusting of the eyelids after sleeping and little red bumps on the eyelids too. I also have some kind of rash / hives? on my cheeks, forehead and chin but not nose or upper lip. It spread to my neck (sides & front only) and decolletage plus arms and legs (top surface only).

I've been having these symptoms on and off for 3 months since coming back to North America after living in Bermuda for a year.  They appeared after 1 month of coming back and I thought it might be the chlorine or flouride in the water supply. Bermuda uses rain water from the roofs (so extremely low chlorine and no fluoride). We have a lot of chlorine and flouride in the water supply. I use a Brita filter for drinking water but my husband refuses to install whole house water filter.

I don't dye my hair (which I've read on some sites as a possible cause), so that can't be the issue either.

My doctor presribed Prednisone which helped a little but did not remove the rash or itching completely. As it is serious medicine for Aids and Cancer patients, I was only on it for 5 days.

Then I was away in the US for 3 weeks at Christmas and it got better. I was wondering if it could be an allergy too. We have 2 cats that were with us in Bermuda but not in Florida for the 3 weeks. So doesn't really make sense?

I've been reading a lot on GMO's (genetically modified organism's) like wheat, corn, soy, sugar beet etc. and the side effects including skin rashes that the lab animals developed when the GMO's were studied. GMO's were only introduced into the food supply in 1996 and North America is one of the few places in the world where they don't have to label products that they are in. (Even China requires labelling!!!)

I've started last week to remove all GMO food products from my diet which means basically going organic and whole foods. High fructose corn syrup is in nearly everything now (manufactured products) and most of the corn if not all in North America is GMO corn. Same goes for wheat, soy and sugar beet - most of it grown in North America is GMO. This means ketchup, mayonnaise etc. is also off limits.

So far the diet has removed my itchy inner ears, knee pain, digestion issues and swollen finger joints and my stomach has flattened somewhat. I've given away 3 pairs of jeans that are now too large. So there is some progress.

However, the rash has not significantly improved yet. I'm hopeful that as my body cleans out, the rash will also resolve itself and go away.

Heads up! Some eye & neck rashes are caused by your new foam pillows~ even if it doesn't smell! They contain fire retardant & enhancers to keep the foam soft & mold-able, especially the contoured Neck support ones...My symptoms kept getting worse & it took a month to figure this out after changing dish soap, throwing out all hand lotions (aloe vera gel was all I could use that didn't sting), changing laundry soap & washing load full after loadful for 2 days of laundry in just hot water...

It was my lovely new pillow?! Who would have thought......I'm just glad it was not a new foam mattress! I hope this helps even just one more sufferer :)
