Hi,

It would be great if restaurants were detailed in providing this type of information, but it is probably not realistic to expect it, as there are so many different types of food allergies and menus only have so much room.

If you have food allergies, protect yourself by being diligent in asking lots of questions about how food is prepared. Don't settle for guesses from wait staff. If necessary, ask them to check with the chef or ask if the chef could come and speak with you.

Your life could depend upon your being proactive.

To your health,

Kathi

I am with Kathleen, I have a dairy allergy and the more questions I ask the better I feel.  I now ask about food prep on every item i am interested in and then remind the waiter when i order. It has made a huge difference!
