Hi Shawn,   The best thing you could do for your cat allergy is to get rid of the cats. But I'm guessing that's not an option, so failing that, at least keep the cats out of your bedroom and your main living space as much as possible. This will reduce the amount of cat dander in your environment.   However, dander is an airborne allergen, so as long as the cats still live in your home, their dander will get distributed throughout the house to some extent. So, effective treatment is key. There's a wide variety of allergy medicines available, but the main antihistamine pills available today are Claritin, Clarinex, Allegra, and Zyrtec.   There are also a few differen nasal steroid sprays that are very effective at treating nasal allergy symptoms. And Singulair is another type of pill called a leukotriene modifier that is used to treat both allergies and asthma symptoms.   Your doctor can tell you what might be the best approach for your particular situation. Allergy shots aimed at reducing your sensitivity to cat dander might be another approach. An allergist (allergy specialist doctor) would need to evaluate you for allergy shots.   To your health, Kathi
